A permanent Portland resident, I find myself fighting the transition from summer to Fall each year until the nostalgic approach of our Holiday Season. In the NW this begins in October with harvest festivals and pumpkin patches, followed closely by the early presence of Christmas ornaments along our grocery store shelves. I adore the scents and sights associated with each holiday and am a sucker for all the traditions surrounding each one.
A big part of our holiday traditions is Holiday Shopping. I have been making an annual trip to the Woodburn Premium Outlets for nearly a decade and have watched the shopping center expand into the versatile destination it is today. With shops for the whole family like JCrew, Gap and Levis to more specific tastes like Coach and Pendleton it has truly become a one-stop destination for holiday shopping.
That’s why when I heard about their Charity Event Fall Fashion Frenzy I had to carve out the time and make it over there. The event combined the best elements of the season to include shopping, community and most importantly giving to a good cause. An affordable $20 ticket included a delicious catered lunch in one of two massive tents, exclusive discounts, several giveaways, a swag bag and access to a gift card raffle of over $70,000 in prizes!! All proceeds from the family-friendly event benefit 11 charities, so it’s a guilt free day of shopping!
A lot of thought went into making this a community event, with the models of the Fashion Show all members of a local dance team. I thought it was a cute touch that during the show they each stopped at the photo-booth to take a quick snap of their looks before walking through the crowd to show off their Woodburn Premium Outlet curated looks.
I was excited to meet this years Miss Oregon, who was hosting the Fashion show and took the time to take pictures with attendees. We had some more exciting photos from the photo-booth, but I’ll have to track those down, haha. There were plenty of fun props to incorporate at the photo-booth and the raffle was a huge hit, drawing a huge crowd back to the tents at the end of a fun afternoon.
Already a fan of this shopping center, this event won me over even further and reminded me what the holidays are all about. I think a lot of the surrounding community will feel the same and if they decide to make this an annual thing, will be easily incorporated into our holiday traditions.
xoxo
