The Maternity Edit: 5 Looks you Need in Your Closet for 2nd Trimester

Alright you guys. It’s time to get real about the maternity style: I’m only in month SIX and I already know the struggle of finding baby bump-friendly pieces that fall under both the “stylish” AND “functional” categories. So many cute clothes are too uncomfortable to wear at home, or heck! Even out to brunch, if we’re honest.

That’s why I’ve pulled together some of my favorite looks from my second trimester that I can say firsthand meet our criteria. Let’s start with this super glam, but comfy girls day look I wore at the Oregon Coast recently:

One of my go-to combos during the pregnancy, as you know, has been the top and skirt combo. It’s incredibly versatile, because a crop top can fit comfortably above the belly and be combined with leggings, skirts or even over a dress for multiple looks. I prefer skirts while it’s warm out, but I know I’ll reach for this top again come cooler, fall days.

SHOP MY LOOK HERE:

SHOP Puff Sleeve TOPS and Midi SKIRTS:

Next up is a maternity dress (one of my first) from Pink Blush Maternity. While I’m often wary about maternity lines due to previous sizing issues, I found myself really satisfied with the quality and fit from this shop. This dress has a fun and flirty style to it, while also being comfortable enough to wear all day. I styled it with a vintage belt to give it a bit more shape.

SHOP THE LOOK:

SHOP MINI DRESSES HERE:

The BODYCON Dress is a maternity staple for nearly any stage of your pregnancy. While some women may not sport this style pre-pregnancy, you’d be surprised to see how many will opt for a belly-hugging sillhouette once their belly pops! It’s flattering and comfortable if you choose a knit, linen or cotton blend in a midi length. Perfect for layering with a blazer or cardigan and boots come cooler weather too!

TIP* I am wearing a non-maternity find from the juniors section at TJ Max. I size up from an XS to a Small in most things to leave room for my belly and breast growth, but at this point in my pregnancy maternity clothes still seem too roomy.

SHOP KNIT DRESSES:

Next is a jumpsuit that I already own in two colors! I love these throw-on pieces, because for a mom-on-the-go lifestyle some days you just don’t have time to think beyond a grab and go. You cannot beat the QUALITY of every single piece you receive from Hatch Collection and so far they hold the number 1 spot on my list for fit and quality maternity clothes.

SHOP THIS JUMPSUIT:

Shop Maternity Jumpsuits:

This was right at the start of my second trimester and I’m excited to reshoot this as my belly grows! I found a few more beautiful 2-piece options that have stretch and/or ruching that are non-maternity.

I hear that! I feel like it was so much more difficult with my first 10 years ago. There was nothing cute and it was hard to get inspired!

Isn’t it genius? I think jumpsuits are the most versatile, because they can stretch with your belly too.

It’s a nice hack if you don’t want to buy all brand new maternity pieces and get more wear out of them afterward 🙂

I will never get over how fantastic your style is. I love that you didn’t conform to “typical” maternity standards and kept to what YOU love! I think these ensembles are fantastic at any time, but they sure do make that bump look extra fabulous!

You’re so thoughtful and encouraging! Thanks girl. It’s perhaps the most challenging season to maintain person style, but it’s been fun!
