As you guys may already know, I have done a bit of traveling with Hotel Tonight (see my previous post HERE) and am a major fan of their booking services. I have had good luck getting insanely good prices on hotels that would otherwise be out of my price range. This time around, I wanted to plan something special for the boyfriend who will be out of town for Valentines Day this year. To make up for our time apart, I planned a Portland stay-cation at the historic, boutique hotel- Hotel Deluxe.
I booked us a Queen standard room through the app about 3 days before our stay. Because I knew we’d be taking some couple photos with photographer, Vitalina, I called ahead to request a well- lit room and they were kind enough to reserve a room facing the west side with large windows and plenty of potential light.
But first things first. We had to drop by the popular lounge The Driftwood Room, which is a local favorite and destination for guests and locals alike. We met some friends for drinks and happy hour, which offers a great menu of fresh cocktails and some of my favorite deserts in town.
The next day we woke up early and ordered room service which arrived with the most amazing freshly squeezed orange juice, crispy bacon and fresh fruit.
We also began our couples photo-session early that morning, which began in our bedroom and then carried out to the lobby and the hotel entrance.
We spent some time in the lobby over the next couple of days, enjoying coffee and people watching from cozy couches and oversized chairs.
While we didn’t lunch at Gracie’s during our stay, I have had brunch here on previous visits and can attest to the quality of it’s fresh, all-American menu. It has an old school European vibe to it which I find quite nostalgic and comforting.
Our last night there, we cozied in and enjoyed a movie night and our second room- service experience. The entire stay was full of only exquisite costumer service. The staff were all so kind and cheery. I can’t believe we didn’t run across even one grumpy bellman, haha!
Overall my stay here was a 10, with the food being over the top delicious and the service overwhelmingly impressive. The rooms are small and cozy, a reflection of the original layout of a stunning art-deco building. This is the perfect location to get that old Hollywood experience and well-attended service.
