Living Proof

Nearly all of my go-to products have been Living Proof this year, so I was super stoked to have them send me their entire line for wavy and curly hair to try out.

I went online and used their Product Selector Tool for recommendations on products for my particular hair type and styling preferences.

It’s pretty cool. Makes my shopping experience easier when I’m only seeing product for my specific hair type.

My hair story has been no fairy tale romance. For as long as I can remember, I’ve longed for that thick silky hair that few women are born with, but every woman covets. You know what I’m talking about. A texture that needs no heat styling- just a quick brush and wha-la! Perfection.

Here’s a little back story about my own hair…

When I was in middle school, I sported a perm for the life of it- what is that- 6 months? Before Chopping it all off into a bob. I wore a beanie to bed each night so that my hair would dry straight for school the next morning. This was my genius attempt and full experience at styling at this point.
My freshman year I decided that I could definitely pull of Hallie Berry’s signature military cut. Is that what it’s called? Anyhow, this was devistating.

By mid-year my hair was awkwardly growing out into a mullet and all I could do was achingly long for the day it would be grown out again.

I was teased about my thick, poufy hair all through high school even when it finally grew out.

It wasn’t until college that I borrowed a girlfriends curling iron and discovered the magic of heat styling.. And then just a few years later the importance of product for different hair types.

My approach to beauty products is to keep things as natural as possible. Keep the ingredients simple since they will touch my face, skin and scalp. Hair products fall into the beauty category for me since I have long, thick hair that does touch my face all day.

I didn’t always have money to spend on great products, as I know is the case for a lot of women, but if you can own at least one product I suggest a heat protectant. The Living Proof No Frizz Weightless Styling Spray is perfect and doesn’t leave my hair crunchy when I straighten or curl sections.

If you can splurge, get the Perfect Hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo and some styling cream that will add the perfect texture to your hair for those air dried style days.

For me, I use a variation of all these products nearly every day. My favorite product from the new line is the No Frizz humidity shield spray. It’s like magic in can for my easily frizzed main. It wards off frizz despite light rain or humidity without weighing my hair down like some hairsprays do.

Dry shampoo is something I can’t live without, especially if I haven’t washed my hair in 5 days. But living proofs dry shampoo is definitely a luxury investment. It doesn’t get powdery when I spray it at my roots and it lasts all day for a matte texture.

The Lab Satin Hair Serum I like to smooth through my hair last to give some gloss and shine to my ends.
