These past couple of years have included SOOO much travel up and down the West Coast. I love my time in LA and Santa Monica, but often I found myself stressed about the drive times. For super shorts trips (sometimes less than 48 hours) I need to be in a specific part of LA and its difficult to book hotels last minute on a budget. It was a relief to discover Hotel Tonight, which is an app on my phone that allows me to find hotels for the cheapest price within my specific location.
I decided to go ahead and try out the app for my most recent trip to speak at StyleCon. I knew I’d be traveling through different parts of LA and needed to stay in different areas for parts of my stay that week. I decided to use my credit for the last leg of my trip in Santa Monica and found myself booking a room at the stunning Pali House Hotel.
My first thought upon entering the grounds was something like- Hey, a secret Garden. The front courtyard sprawls out with a stunning water well at the center of a beautifully landscaped lawn. Once you pass through all this into the lobby, you find yourself transported to another time. There’s an old-world european flair throughout all of the decor with eclectic details in addition to stunning architecture and interior design.
Another stunning gem is the back patio where they have cruisers for rent and cozy rustic sitting areas that offer shade and charm. I ran into quite a few people reading books out here and having coffee quietly beneath the shade.
The bedroom we ended up in was WONDERFUL. The staff were nice enough to upgrade us from a two-double bed situation (best for besties or single travelers) to a stunning Queen room with a view of the front grounds. I wish the App showed me which rooms would be available at the time of booking, but I think they get their insane discounts in exchange for this slight inconvenience. Anyhow, The same ambience of the lobby carries through into the bedroom with beautiful dark moldings and eclectic wallpaper. Reminds me of Harry Potter meets Narnia!
Since I’m a sucker for ANYTHING that makes life more efficient, I will definitely be using Hotel Tonight for more upcoming trips. Can’t wait to see which other amazing hotels turn up!
