Something about this coat reminds me of Samantha from Bewitched. Did you watch those late night reruns as a kid? I was obsessed with her little nose twitch. She had a very polished sense of style, but she was very petite and wore beautiful patterns and textures that were right on trend for the 70’s.
Anyhow, I found this coat on sale at I Heart Retro. (Side note * this is one of my favorite furniture shops in NE Portland- go there for vintage furniture finds if you have a need). I was in there to show a friend the shop when I noticed this lying over the side of a couch. The bright blue caught my eye first thing and then when I lifted it I was freaking ecstatic to find a retro coat.
It’s oversized, which means a few things for me. One. I can’t wear it with everything I own. (I will look like a kid playing dress up.) Two, I have to make it the centerpiece because it’s such a wow color, shape and size.
I paired it over a silk shift dress here, because -frankly- I need the warmth. I like showing some leg underneath such a large color block and the daintier shoes break it up a bit too.
